Welcome, Kyle and Bob Empty Re: Welcome, Kyle and Bob

Ok, so I'm going to post the ideas that have been suggested for the game thus far, specifically for Jim. If any of us have any other ideas, we should post them here for now.

game ideas:
1) survival horror-dungeon crawler hybrid
• basically diablo's play style combined with the aesthetics of a silent hill or early resident evil title.
• unlike diablo, supplies are finite (more like a survival horror game in this respect). only so many bullets, weapons can break, no unlimited "first aid kits" etc.
• character growth a la RPG.

2) castle tower game
• whole game takes place in one huge castle tower (50 level?).
• every 5th level of the castle is a "boss level."
• each level gets progressively crazier and more psychedelic. the first couple of levels should seem traditional but as the hero gets closer to the top level where the villain resides, the villain begins to literally play mind games. the elements and foundations of the castle - stone, wood, etc. - starts to dissolve progressively and is replaced with dream worlds and/or amalgamated places from the hero's memories and subconscious.
• first couple of levels introduce puzzle and combat concepts.
• despite the concept being the whole game takes place in one castle tower, each level of the tower would be uniquely designed. the further progress you make in the game, the more the levels open up and become more expansive - the last level being a sizeable labyrinth on its own.

3) "unlucky charms - they're magically vicious" - 2D platformer
• a boy is shrunken down to the size of an ant and falls into a box of cereal. danger awaits.
• navigate through a series of cereal-themed worlds while warding off marshmallow bad guys, narrowly escaping milk floods, and swiftly avoiding the crushing Hungry Hand scooping up cereal from the box.

• Strategy RPG/Action Game Combination
o Two parts to the game: Overworld and Duel mode. Overworld mode would be sort of like Fire Emblem/Tactics Ogre where you move your characters either on a grid or any direction. Each character’s movement amount is based on their class attributes. Turn order is also based on this.
o Next item is Duel mode. When an attack is made in Overworld mode, Duel mode is engaged. This is 2D space where your character will fight the enemy AI. The fighting in this would be similar to an action RPG (think Tales of… combat system from the earlier games). Players can block, do basic combos and can gain special class specific moves that they can utilize. Once the HP of either you or the enemy drops to 0, the battle ends and whoever lost is removed from the overworld board.
o Each stage would have different objectives (from standard kill all enemies to defend a certain building).
o Other Random Notes: Sudden Death in certain events (one hit kills in duel mode).

• Action/Platformer
o Think of something sort of like Gunstar Heroes. Can combine weapons to make different weapons. Some weapons can also help with platforming(not required to beat levels, but maybe get power-ups or something)
o Weapons can create/destroy different types of platforms

2 Player Platformer: You are on the ground and another player is on the ceiling. You both need to reach your goal, but must work together to do so. An example would be the player on the ceiling would need to somehow get a block to the ground in order for the ground player to progress.

Shoot 'Em Up: Sort of standard shoot 'em up but the idea would be if you don't shoot, you are automatically put in shield mode where you absorb basic bullets fire, which is converted to energy for you to use your weapon. This shield would not absorb all types of fire, so you still have to dodge. When you shoot, the shield goes down and your energy goes down as you shoot. Basically, you would need to balance between attacking and defense.

Sorry if it's a bit messy...just a copy and paste job.

Well, I'm not sure what we will start with yet. Bob had a couple other ideas that he should be posting soon, but I think we should meet up some weekend and figure out exactly what idea or combination of ideas we want to use and how we are going to make it.

I don't know when you guys are available to meet up, but I can do something next week/weekend.
